Rare Model No. 35 Teak Coffee Table by Louis van Teeffelen for Wébé, 1965–1968
Designed by Louis van Teeffelen for Dutch furniture maker Wébé, Model No. 35 was produced in small numbers between 1965 and 1968. Its sculpted teak frame curves upward at each end, leaving a narrow gap that makes the long, softly rounded top appear to float. The teak has been freshly oiled, bringing out the warm grain along the length of the top.
Information
Designed by Louis van Teeffelen for Dutch furniture maker Wébé, this vintage teak coffee table is a rarely seen example of Model No. 35. Wébé produced the design in small numbers between 1965 and 1968. Its most distinctive feature is best appreciated from the front, where a narrow strip of daylight separates the long tabletop from the sculpted frame beneath it.
Just below the top, the upper rail dips gently before curving upwards to meet each leg. A second rail runs low between the legs, framing an open space that extends almost the full length of the table. Seen from an angle, the softly rounded corners of the top echo the curves of the base. These details give the table a different character depending on where you sit.
The teak has been freshly oiled, bringing out its warm brown tones and the grain that runs lengthwise across the top. A few minor signs of use are consistent with the table’s age. They are subtle and do not detract from its overall appearance.
At 150 cm long and just 50 cm wide, Model No. 35 pairs particularly well with a long sofa, offering plenty of surface space while keeping its footprint relatively narrow.
Dimensions: 150 cm long × 50 cm wide × 44 cm high.
