Vintage Space Age Floor Lamp with Sliding Chrome Arm and White Marble Base
An unusual Space Age floor lamp with a broad, two-tier dome shade edged in chrome. Its long horizontal arm slides through the upright, letting you adjust both the height and reach of the light over a sofa or low table. A substantial white marble base anchors the frame, while the shade gives off a warm, soft glow.
Information
A large, two-tier dome shade hangs from the end of a long chrome arm, giving this vintage Space Age floor lamp its distinctive silhouette. The upper dome curves over a shallower, slightly narrower lower section, with a fine chrome band tracing the rim. When lit, both sections take on a warm glow that contrasts with the polished metal frame.
The height and reach can be adjusted independently. The horizontal arm slides forwards or backwards through a round clamp on the upright, allowing you to position the shade above a coffee table or bring it closer to the end of a sofa. At full extension, the lamp spans 140 cm, so the base can sit well to one side of the area you want to light.
The chrome upright sits off-centre on a substantial rectangular base of white marble with soft grey veining. The combination of this long sliding arm and the stepped profile of the shade is unusual.
