This vintage secretary desk was designed by Cees Braakman for Pastoe and is executed in warm oak veneer. The restrained proportions, clean lines and functional layout are typical of Dutch mid-century furniture from the 1950s and 1960s.
The upper section features a drop-down writing surface that opens to reveal a well-organised interior with a long shelf and several smaller storage compartments, ideal for documents, stationery or small accessories. When closed, the writing section keeps the piece visually calm and compact. Below, two open compartments provide additional storage while maintaining the light, architectural appearance of the design.
With a depth of only 30 cm, this secretary is particularly suitable for smaller interiors, hallways, living rooms or home offices where a full-size desk would take up too much space. The tapered wooden legs and subtle detailing give the cabinet its recognisable mid-century character.
