Designed by Cees Braakman for Pastoe, this vintage secretaire cabinet is a distinctive example of Dutch mid-century design from the 1950s. The cabinet is finished in warm teak veneer and combines clean architectural lines with contrasting black handles and slender black metal legs.
The upper section features a drop-down front that opens to create a practical work surface. Inside, the cabinet offers additional storage compartments and shelving, making it suitable as a compact writing desk, home office cabinet or statement storage piece. The lower section contains four spacious drawers, each fitted with its original-style black rectangular handle.
Its relatively narrow proportions make this piece particularly practical for interiors where space is limited, while still offering substantial storage. The warm teak grain and restrained detailing are characteristic of Braakman’s functional approach to post-war Dutch furniture design.
