Cees Braakman for Pastoe Coffee Table with Reversible Teak & White Top – 1960s

A highly recognizable mid-century coffee table designed by Cees Braakman for Pastoe, part of the celebrated Japanese Series. The design reflects Braakman’s characteristic approach to functional modernism, combining a lightweight architectural frame with carefully considered storage and a restrained material palette.

The table features a slim black metal frame with a reversible tabletop. One side is finished in warm teak veneer, while the reverse side offers a clean white surface, allowing the appearance of the table to be changed depending on the interior. Beneath the top are integrated open storage compartments, ideal for magazines, books or smaller objects.

The combination of teak, black metal and white surfaces gives the table a distinctly modern character that works particularly well in mid-century modern, Scandinavian and Japandi-inspired interiors.

This example has been carefully refreshed. The metal frame has been resprayed in black, while the teak surface has been cleaned and treated with fresh oil, bringing back the depth and warmth of the wood. The table presents very well while retaining the character expected from an original vintage piece.
