This Cees Braakman secretary cabinet for Pastoe is a characteristic example of Dutch mid-century modern design from the 1960s. Executed in warm teak veneer, the cabinet combines clean architectural lines with a highly practical layout, making it suitable both as a storage piece and as a compact home workspace.
The upper section features open shelving for books, decorative objects or everyday essentials. Below, the large front panel folds down to create a generous writing surface with a contrasting white finish. Inside, the secretary compartment offers additional shelving and divisions for documents, stationery and smaller items.
The lower section provides further enclosed storage behind two doors, while the black metal base and dark handles create a strong visual contrast with the teak.
