Information
A striking vintage Space Age table lamp from the 1970s, characterised by its sculptural form, polished chrome finish and distinctive perforated metal shade. The combination of the rounded base, slender stem and dome-shaped reflector gives the lamp a strong architectural presence.
The perforated upper section is particularly eye-catching. When illuminated, the openings allow light to escape through the top while the reflector directs the main light downwards, creating a warm and atmospheric effect. This functional detail also gives the lamp its unmistakable Space Age and Italian modernist character.
Its design is reminiscent of the experimental lighting created by leading Italian designers during the 1960s and 1970s, when chrome, geometric forms and innovative ways of controlling light became defining elements of modern interior design.
Thanks to its relatively minimal construction, the lamp works particularly well as a desk lamp, side table lamp or accent light. It can easily be combined with Mid-Century Modern, Space Age, Italian Modernist and contemporary interiors.
A distinctive piece of 1970s vintage lighting for collectors and design enthusiasts looking for something less common than the classic mushroom lamps of the period
