Louis van Teeffelen Combi No. 105 Teak Highboard – WéBé, 1960s

Original Combi No. 105 highboard, designed by Louis van Teeffelen for WéBé in the Netherlands during the 1960s. A distinctive example of Dutch mid-century modern design, combining generous storage with the sculptural woodworking for which Van Teeffelen is particularly known.

The highboard is executed in teak and teak veneer and rests on Van Teeffelen’s characteristic sculpted wooden base. The tapered legs and beautifully curved supports give the cabinet a light, almost floating appearance despite its substantial storage capacity.

The front is divided into several functional sections. Two cabinet doors on the left feature the characteristic integrated sculpted wooden handles, while the central section contains a series of drawers. The open shelving on the right provides an attractive display area for books, ceramics, art objects or other decorative pieces.

Inside, the cabinet retains its original glass elements, which are also in very good condition. Their preservation adds to the completeness and authenticity of this example.

Typical Van Teeffelen details can be found throughout the piece: softly rounded edges, organically shaped handles, tapered legs and the distinctive transition between the cabinet and its supporting frame. These details transform what is essentially a highly practical storage cabinet into a particularly sculptural piece of furniture.

At 150 cm wide, the Combi No. 105 offers substantial storage without becoming oversized. Its combination of closed storage, drawers and open shelving makes it suitable for a living room, dining room, office or spacious entrance hall.

This example is in very good vintage condition, including the interior and glasswork. Only minor signs of age and previous use are present, consistent with an original piece dating from the 1960s.
