Converted Fristho Audio Sideboard, Teak, Dutch Design, 1960s

This mid-century teak sideboard was made by the Dutch manufacturer Fristho in the 1960s, originally built as a combined radio and record-player cabinet. It has since been converted into a characterful storage piece, retaining its original drop-front panels and brass-tone detailing.

The central drop-front panels — once giving access to the turntable and radio — open to reveal a practical interior with shelving. The two side compartments, which originally housed the speakers, are now open display sections framed with brass-tone trim, well suited for books, vinyl or decorative objects. The cabinet is finished in warm teak veneer with a clean, linear form and stands on black metal legs with castors, giving it the light, floating stance characteristic of 1960s design.

At 152 cm wide but only 36 cm deep, this is a generous yet shallow sideboard — easy to place against a wall in a living room or hallway without taking up much floor depth. With its genuine mid-century audio heritage, it works equally well as a media unit, record storage cabinet or display sideboard. The teak grain and restrained Dutch design make it a versatile fit for both mid-century modern and contemporary interiors.

Condition: Good vintage condition, with light wear consistent with age and use. Please note this is a converted piece: the original audio components have been removed and the cabinet adapted for storage. It is not an original, unaltered Fristho audio cabinet.
