Belarti Mid-Century Ceramic Tile Coffee Table, Chrome Base, Belgium

A signed Belarti coffee table with a hand-glazed ceramic tile top mounted on a polished chrome frame, produced in Belgium during the 1960s–1970s. The tableau shows a bold abstract composition in orange, red, yellow and turquoise over an anthracite ground, with the speckled, flowing glaze effects that are characteristic of Belarti's studio work. The top is signed "Belarti" in the lower corner of the tile field.

The polished chrome base, rather than the more common black metal or wooden frame, makes this a more sought-after variant, and the bright space-age palette is among the most collectible that Belarti produced. Ceramic artist Juliette Belarti is recognised as one of the defining names in post-war Belgian decorative ceramics, and her tile tables are collected internationally by design enthusiasts, interior architects and dealers.

The piece is in very good vintage condition: the glaze retains its depth and gloss, and the chrome frame is clean and structurally sound.
