This elegant pair of Kilta lounge chairs was designed by Olli Mannermaa and produced by Martela in Finland during the 1970s. The Kilta model is a recognised example of Scandinavian modernism, appreciated for its organic shell form, generous seating comfort and timeless proportions.

The chairs feature sculptural, softly contoured seats upholstered in original skai (high-quality faux leather), combined with slender chrome tubular steel legs. This combination was widely used by Martela for both residential and contract interiors, valued for its durability, ease of maintenance and clean aesthetic.

The skai upholstery shows light, honest signs of use, consistent with age, without excessive wear. The frames are solid and stable, making the chairs fully functional and comfortable for everyday use. The overall look remains refined, warm and well-balanced — ideal for a living room, reading corner, office, hospitality or design-led interior.

These chairs work beautifully as a pair but can also be integrated individually into different spaces. Their neutral tone allows easy styling within both vintage and contemporary settings, particularly interiors inspired by mid-century and 1970s Scandinavian design.
