Bertil Fridhagen - Swedisch coffeetable 1950-1960

This Swedish coffee table was designed by Bertil Fridhagen and dates from the late 1950s to early 1960s, a period defined by balanced proportions, functional clarity and high-quality craftsmanship. The table is a strong example of Scandinavian modern design, where construction and form are equally important.

The softly rounded tabletop is supported by slender, tapered legs and a characteristic cross-braced structure underneath, providing both stability and a visually light appearance. This construction is typical of Fridhagen’s designs and contributes to the table’s calm yet confident presence.

Crafted from solid wood with a warm natural tone, the surface shows a well-developed, even patina. The table is in very good vintage condition. There is a small, subtle raised area running along the length of the tabletop, barely visible and only noticeable under certain lighting. This does not affect use or stability and is consistent with age and natural movement of the wood.
