Mid-Century Tulip Side Table - Simplicity meets style
A true British mid-century design icon by Arkana, inspired by Eero Saarinen’s timeless Tulip series.
This elegant side table combines sculptural curves with modern simplicity — perfect beside a lounge chair or as a statement piece in any contemporary interior.
This authentic Arkana Tulip side table, designed by Maurice Burke in the 1960s, is a true icon of British mid-century modern design. Inspired by Eero Saarinen’s revolutionary pedestal collection for Knoll, Burke created his own refined interpretation for the Scottish manufacturer Arkana, based in Falkirk, Scotland.
The Tulip collection by Arkana sought to embody the same futuristic spirit as Saarinen’s work — clean sculptural lines, a single pedestal base, and an elegant circular tabletop that appears to float. The result is a timeless silhouette that remains effortlessly modern over sixty years later.
This particular model, measuring Height 51 cm x Diameter 45 cm, was crafted with Arkana’s signature cast aluminium base and a laminated or lacquered wooden top, offering a harmonious blend of lightness and stability. Its smooth, organic form makes it ideal as a side table, coffee table, or accent piece in both vintage and contemporary interiors.
