This dining table was designed by renowned Danish architect Arne Vodder and produced by Skovmand & Andersen in the 1960s. A perfect example of mid-century modern Scandinavian craftsmanship, the piece combines functionality, refined proportions and the luxurious character of Brazilian rosewood.
The tabletop displays a striking rosewood grain with rich tones and natural depth, preserved in excellent condition without scratches or dents. Two integrated extension leaves slide seamlessly from beneath the main surface, allowing the table to extend from 120 cm to 180 cm in length. The construction is light yet remarkably sturdy, with tapered legs and fine joinery that reflect the Danish tradition of elegance and restraint.
Arne Vodder’s work is celebrated for its subtle details and timeless quality, and this model illustrates why his designs remain highly sought after by collectors worldwide. Unlike heavier European furniture of the same era, this table demonstrates the Danish mastery of creating strength and stability with a refined, minimal frame.
Today, original rosewood examples are increasingly rare, as the material is no longer widely available. This makes the table not only a practical centrepiece for daily use, but also a valuable investment in authentic Scandinavian modern design.
